August 2006

I do wish to finish the multitude of projects I’ve started.

I began a Matilda scarf months ago and it’s been patiently simmering.
So at last I’ve completed it.

I was delighted to find this pattern, the more so because it eased a rough day.
It was a perfect discovery since my stash included some stray Lite Lopi, and
one skein of Kureyon. Annie was gracious enough to model it and Oliver was
content to fall asleep with it. I think this is a very nice pairing of yarns
and a great, simple pattern.

It’s too warm to wear the scarf just yet. The kitties, however, enjoy wool in any season. No sooner was Matilda off the needles than it became a preferred cat napping surface. This gave me a sure sign of its success.

In an instance of uncharacteristic boldness, I sent an email of
appreciation to the pattern writer.

I listened to a migraine ‘Forum’ on KQED 88.5: such a disappointment. The information was marginally useful. There was no coherent thread moving the exchange of ideas along, instead a scattering of subtopics. The moderator was ineffectual. Not that it would be an easy job to keep the dialogue cohesive what with the number and diversity of the guest participants. I ended up having to take Maxalt! That is my migraine medicine.

I finished the sock! Both socks finished, ends woven in. The toe parts leave a nicer shaping to be desired but overall they look good. Yesterday, a needle was broken but for the good cause of cuddling Oliver.
