December 2007

Even the Glumster of Grim (me) experienced some Christmas cheer. That was greatly enhanced when I received a package from my Christmas Around The World secret swap pal.

Dorothea is the wonderful person who was meant to spoil me. And spoil me she did.

It is so touching that someone I don’t even know carefully selected gifts for me and
sent them all the way from Germany. It is hard to believe they are really for me!

I adore the little wooden ornaments and the darling kitten chocolates, the scented candle, the gummy bears and card! I am looking forward to knitting with the pretty Silk Garden Lite yarn and the Addi needles! One of the wrapping papers features a knitting Santa!

Dorothea also printed out the Calorimetry pattern for me and it is protected in a transparent sheet, perfect for the binder of patterns I’ve started.

What is most amazing is the beautiful knitted shawl. The colors are lovely and I can’t wait to wear it! I will treasure it for all time! Dorothea, you’ve really brightened the
end of my year. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness.

At Christmas, I was delighted to see that my sister was wearing one of her Lopi sweaters that I’d given her last year. She was even wearing an alpaca hat fresh off my needles and a scarf I’d knitted for her some time ago.

While I am most often too warm, my dear sister is most often too cold. Two hats for her are better than one! That works out well since the red one, one of my first knitting attempts, came out rather large.

I think she likes her latest Lopi sweater!

Here is my darling sister Kim amidst heaps of Christmas stuff.

I’m so pleased! I think it’s a good fit. And now the Taska bag (given
her 13 days before on her Birthday) and Aftur sweater are reunited!
