Happy Birthday to my sister!

I have a wonderful, extraordinary sister!
These photos, all rather old, are some of my favorites.

I am on Ravelry now! And I am attempting to be more organized. I have been gathering my UFOs - unfinished objects - from hither & thither and squishing them into one container where they can commiserate over their neglect.

One sweater, for my Mom, was so close to completion. I ordered the one skein needed to finish the sleeve and tried to remember what size needles I’d used, what stitch pattern, and the like.

Noooo! Maybe one skein was not enough! I kept knitting, with ill-fated unease. There was some excess yarn dangling off the other sleeve. I used it, although I knew it wouldn’t be sufficient. Drat!

I scowled. I moped around and brooded. Oh well, I could simply order the one skein from somewhere and be done with it. Ordering yarn online is something I make much fuss over. I did search for a source, but I waited on placing an order. Good thing.

Returning to the sweater, I tried to look on it with less annoyance. And I made a delightful discovery! Hidden on the inside at the neckline was another little bundle of yarn! I tend to leave these uncut in case alterations are needed. It was a large little bundle too, plenty to finish off the cuff. Goody gumdrops!

I gave the sweater to my Mom. What was most gratifying was that she wore it out that evening. That is, she wore it when she went out for dinner! That made me so so happy.

The sweater began its life as a Bed Penny. My Mom likes her arms covered so I made long sleeves. I also added the baby cable ribbing for the bottom, the neckline and the sleeves.

The yarn I used is Suri Merino, which is rather nice and relatively reasonable.

My other finished object is this scarf.

A local yarn shop had Karabella Labyrinth on sale, 3 skeins for $5.00. Except
hmmm. Do I like it? It’s not quite my color taste.

Labyrinth is made in other colors I much prefer. And I’m indifferent to scarves.
I just could not resist the sale! It has grown on me a little, but maybe it will be
a gift for someone who finds it pleasing.

I’ve been trying to be good and finish what I’ve started.
I have been minding my P’s & K’s!
And see, my cellphone helps keep me in line.
