Have I been doing any knitting? I have! I really pushed myself to finish
Gisela, a cardigan for my Mom, by the end of June. True, it is meant as
a Christmas gift. Yet I am participating in a Ravelry group with the idea
of avoiding holiday knitting frenzy. I challenged myself with this.

I had mixed feelings about acquiring the yarn, Habu Textiles Cotton Gima.
Why? Because someone else was bidding on it on eBay. Yes, I wanted it.
Except I felt really badly for preventing the other bidder from having it.

It was not the easiest yarn to knit with. It is so light-weight and
thin that it can scoff at gravity and do its own thing - misbehave.

Maybe it is better off looking interesting in its packaging than being
subjected to the contortions of my knitting stitches. Lulu might agree.

I did manage to persevere and complete the main knitting, despite the
nuisance of purl rows. I had five separate pieces, defying me to put them
together. Could they magically form a cardigan? It didn’t seem promising.

Seaming together the knitted pieces was a nightmare! I was so focused on the
knitting I overlooked how little experience I have with sewing. Plus, I fear the
garment is way too small for my Mom. It is much more of an unfortunate wreck
than the photos would suggest. All seams must be undone and sewn again.

Maybe I can salvage this project. It is a unique yarn. And I do so like the looks of the
properly finished garment. For now though, I need a break from my bumbled Gisela.
