I have wanted to be a knitter who enjoys sock knitting. Maybe
someday I will be. For now, I have been bitten by the mitten bug!
What’s involved in mitten knitting is not so very different from socks.
Is it? Yet it holds much greater appeal to me. Warm hands, cold feet?

I figure any cat-loving woman would like to have these mittens.
Thus, according to my calculations, I will be making many pairs
of these nice kitty mitts.

Tommy cat is not overly impressed.

For this little kitten already has his mittens!

There is no paucity of knitting patterns I would like to pursue. And yet how often am I captivated at first sight? There are beautiful designs from the distant past, from several years ago, from today. I cannot keep up with the plethora of new patterns being published left and right. Having paired down my Ravelry queue, it is now only in the 400’s…but still!

However when I saw the magical seahorse mittens - Hippocampus - by Torirot Design, any other knitting proclivity instantly dwindled in importance. I must knit these enchanting mittens right away! And the dear kitties were eager to offer assistance.

Tori Seierstad is the designer. I am in awe of her creative sense, and I adore her whimsical creations! It is not just about the knitting, it is about…art. Can you imagine your favorite illustrations from children’s books? They exist in a world of their own, usually a world richer and more pleasant than we live in. Tori charmingly captures that in her knitting! For me, anyway. And, as I am a practiced palindromist, how can I not be drawn to her word sense as well?!

yarn: Kauni Effektgarn 8/2, EQ rainbow

Every woman could do with some seahorse mittens! Certain cats, like Lulu, may appreciate them too. I have given away two pairs already. Someday soon I hope to have a pair of my own!

Here is a hat I knitted, Curly (Ravelry link), also by Torirot Design.

Hello world!

I stopped dreaming I would be able to have an Ebony Blythe doll. Her price soared and her availability dwindled. I received her as a lovely gift from a very nice person.

My new girl has been with me since last year! Except I have been hemming and hawing over what to name her. I refuse to call her Eboneeza! Lorenza was one of my top choices, after the beautiful violinist Lorenza Ponce. Then my sister suggested Catalina which I find pretty too. Now Ebony strikes me as needing a J name like one of my favorites for a girl, Jordan. Of course, one of my darling kitties is named Jordan Belinda so there is bound to be confusion! The other reason Ebony has not had her debut until now? She is a very hard girl for me to photograph!
